If you live an hour or more from campus, you are a distance learner. Since you are not expected to come to campus to use the library, your options are different from local students.

Fortunately, about half the books in our collection are now in ebook format and you can access them to read and download portions any time online with your ORU login. To learn more about finding and using ebooks, view this video: http://www.kaltura.com/tiny/fnauy

If you need a book from our print collection, here are your options:

  • Request the book to be checked out and mailed to you. You pay for shipping both ways. Here is the request form: http://oru.libwizard.com/Distance-Learners-Materials-Article-Request-Form  Check out period is 90 days, but you may renew if no one else has requested the book.
  • Request scanned pages from the book (up to 15% of the book) at no cost to you. Here is the request form for scanned pages: https://oru.libwizard.com/f/scanrequest
  • Check your local public library to see if they have the book you need, or if they can borrow it for you via Interlibrary Loan. Most public libraries provide this service at no cost to you.
  • Ask a librarian to help you find an ebook or other resources on the same subject.
